Asian GWIP
Kenya Shimizu
Kenya Shimizu has a really classic Japanese style. He expresses Japanese guys and their Samurai-spirits which Western guys may find interesting. His works are exactly what those who are interested in Japan want to see. He used to draw illustrations for gay magazines including G-men, but he recently has started to show his original works, and has put value on more artistic activities.
Kenya is one of the artists who had most enquiries at my ‘Boys Life’ exhibition at Mardi Gras last year. He came to Australia with his partner to experience Mardis Gras and Australian life. His exhibitions in England two years ago had a huge success and his many works were sold out. I expect he will have more responses from overseas in the future. However, he has had few opportunities to show his works and I would say it is generally precious to see his works in person. He showed a few of his past and latest works at the last year’s exhibition, by the way. It seems he has been constantly working. All of his works will be new this time. Enjoy!

Haruna Ai
Haruna, Japan famous "transsexual talent" will be running a marathon for charity. Although many were concerned whether she could handle the task, Ai showed her training progress to the press. When she was initially chosen as the runner, all she cared about was her makeup melting away. However, during the public training session, her makeup was all taken off by her sweat. Ai said, “I don’t care about makeup any more.” It seems like she is ready to show off her “Ohnishi Kenji” (her real name) face.

Chinese Male Homosexualities: Memba, Tongzhi and Golden Boy
This book presents a groundbreaking exploration of masculinities and homosexualities amongst Chinese gay men. It provides a sociological account of masculinity, desire, sexuality, identity and citizenship in contemporary Chinese societies, and within the constellation of global culture.
Kong reports the results of an extensive ethnographic study of contemporary Chinese gay men in a wide range of different locations including mainland China, Hong Kong and the Chinese overseas community in London, showing how Chinese gay men live their everyday lives. Relating Chinese male homosexuality to the extensive social and cultural theories on gender, sexuality and the body, postcolonialism and globalisation, the book examines the idea of queer space and numerous 'queer flows' – of capital, bodies, ideas, images, and commodities – around the world.
The book concludes that different gay male identities – such as the conspicuously consuming memba in Hong Kong, the urban tongzhi, the 'money boy' in China and the feminised 'golden boy' in London – emerge in different locations, and are all caught up in the transnational flow of queer cultures which are at once local and global.

Nepal First Gay Pride
The LGBT festival will coincide with Gai Jatra, an age-old festival which commemorates those who have died in the past year and where participants dress up in outlandish costumes during a street possession.
Nepal's Blue Diamond Society (BDS) announced that it would hold the first gay pride parade alongside their annual Gaijatra International Pride Festival which would be their ninth this year.
The parade is slated to be held in 25 August 2010 at Basantapur Durbar Square in the capital city of Kathmandu.
In December 2007, Nepal's Supreme Court ordered the government to scrap laws that discriminate against gays. Although Nepalese laws did not explicitly criminalise homosexuality, unnatural sexual acts" which are not defined may be punishable with up to 1-year in prison and/or a 5000 RS (US$66) fine under the bestiality chapter of the country's civil (criminal) code.
